What are Shopify Functions?
Shopify Functions are Shopify’s official way to customize discounts, shipping, payment methods and checkout validation. They run inside Shopify’s own checkout, with no theme edits and no scripts on your storefront, and they are the modern replacement for Shopify Scripts.
Do I need to know how to code to use FunctionFlow AI?
No. You pick conditions and actions from menus, or describe the rule in plain English and let the AI generator draft it. FunctionFlow AI compiles everything into a native Shopify Function for you.
Does FunctionFlow AI require Shopify Plus?
No. FunctionFlow AI is a public Shopify app, so its functions work on every Shopify plan from Basic to Plus. You don’t need Shopify Plus to run custom discount, shipping, payment or validation rules through the app.
How does the AI function generator work?
Describe the rule, for example “Hide Cash on Delivery for orders above $200”. The AI picks the function type and drafts the conditions and actions, then FunctionFlow AI validates the draft against Shopify’s limits. You review and edit it before anything is published.
Can I test a rule before customers see it?
Yes, in two ways. The built-in tester runs the exact compiled function against a sample cart and shows what would change and why, condition by condition. Then test mode publishes the rule only for customers tagged ff-test, so you can try it in your real checkout first.
Can a rule run only at certain times?
Yes. Add a time of day or day of the week condition for happy hours, weekend offers or same-day delivery cutoffs. Times use your store’s time zone, and overnight windows such as 10 PM to 2 AM work too.
What if I make a mistake?
Every save is a version. Compare versions, restore an older one and publish it in one click, or switch a function off instantly with a toggle.
